Hey everyone, we were just talking about how long it had been since a new update, so here I am!
Bill has been doing his chemotherapy treatment (Temodar and Avastin). These two combined are pretty rough in that they take a lot out of him. His appetite isn't what it used to be and fatigue is a huge part of the side effects. In any event, he made the difficult decision last week to go ahead and let his doctors put him on medical leave, like they have been asking to do. This is a hard change for him, but he needs to focus on resting, eating, and getting through treatment. I'm working from home as needed, so I'm here with Bill off and on throughout the week.
We had a pretty low key birthday party for Bill on the 4th.....he got some nice presents, a good visit with Uncle Mark and Auntie Carleen, lots of phone calls and finished it off with a slice of pizza for dinner.
The Sharks are frustrating us big time!!! What's the deal!?!?!? Oh well, we do enjoy watching the games and between the four of us, trading off on who goes to the games. Paid for our playoff tickets, so we're ready for post season.
We did our taxes yesterday (Saturday), this was a new experience for me actually, since Billy's done our taxes with our tax guy since we were married. So, I sat with our guy and went through the checklists, and I managed to only not have 1 item in the file, pretty good!!
We've been working on getting our garage converted into a "man cave". It's actually been ok, and we're almost done. Have a ceiling with insulation now. Lot's more storage space up top, and tomorrow they'll finish off with paint and get the lights back up. Next will be to get some carpet down, then move things back in. This should be a great room for the guys to play music and hang out, we're all very excited.
Logan is playing baseball and enjoying being on a new team, meeting new guys. Connor is doing school stuff and playing music a lot.
Overall, we're doing ok. Thanks very continuing to check in on us, we really appreciate all the support and well wishes. Next MRI will be next week, the week of 3/16/09. We'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the update...we sometimes feel we intrude too much, just know we are always thinking about, praying, and loving you all!!
BTW...obviously it wasn't just us who jinxed the Sharks...we're still on the bandwagon, though!!

Sorry to miss your Birthday last week. Hope the man cave is up and running. I'mm sure the boys (I guess I need to start saying guys) are enjoying it. A few more years and you can put in the tap. Its always a treat to read your blog and peer inside the minds and lives of great people. We think of you often and talk about all the good times with Frank/Lupy. Matt is 16 now and taking drivers ed and looking for a job for the summer. He's doing pretty good in school and has many friends, who spend a lot of their time at our house. He got a 12 string guitar this Christmas, between that and his 6 string he's making some good tunes. We recently put up some gymnastic rings in the shop. Matt is set on achieving the iron cross by fall. It looks like a lot of work to me.
We're putting in a large garden this year again and looking forward to all the smiles we see when we give the produce away to others and especially the pumpkins to the kids around the neighborhood and neices/nephews at Halloween. Last year some were over 100 lbs.
Last year Matt was big on peppers, planted 4 habenero starts, which produced about a bushel of the hottest little buggers no one could eat. One little pepper made 2 qrts of salsa pretty much untasteable after the first bite. But I really felt bad for those we gave a little baggie to, who thought they were sweet peppers and popped them whole into their mouths and stopped breathing normally for a while. Sue has been spending a lot of quality time with her Dad. They watch a lot of Jazz games together and Sue has taken over much of his paperwork. The dog spends his days over at gramps house and they keep each other company, he brings him home at night. The kicker is he always takes the dog with him to Wendy's for lunch. He gets a cup of chili and gets the dog a hamburger. The dog has put on almost eight lbs, a lot for a prior 39 pounder. Aren't family ties great! Reality shows can't hold a candle to the drama and humor of it all. Bill is a tough guy. We have so much confidence in your courage, strength and faith and know how much determination you have. Its good to go with the flow Deb, where all your friends can surround you, love you, and try to keep up with you. All our love, support and prayers... The Heiner's
